Gaul is pacified haha. I stumbled across this podcast after my typical (about every 2-3 months) re-infatuation and deep dive into the early to later years of the Roman republic and its endless fascinating characters. Trevor’s recounting of this time period is utterly refreshing and told in such a detailed and personal way, much like Dan Carlin, in that he explains not only the known actions of so many important characters and overarching themes during this era, but more importantly (and more interestingly), he discusses the subtle and not so subtle details that may have led each person to take each belief and/or action, why they were steadfast or fickle, why they aligned with an ethos even if it meant their end or betrayed all. In this way the viewer gains the vital perspective of all the players of this tumultuous time and can empathize with the decisions made by each actor along the way. Trevor’s version of this historical time gives weight and meaning to each character and event, the tension is palpable throughout, even knowing the end result. This podcast has become my new favorite, and I eagerly look forward to what Trevor and the March of History delivers next.
